The Gulf Coast Education Initiative Consortium (GCEIC) is a nonprofit Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) dedicated to strengthening education across South Mississippi through collaboration, leadership, innovation, and service. Since its establishment in 1997, GCEIC has served as a trusted regional partner, bringing educators and school leaders together to share expertise, develop leadership capacity, and implement innovative solutions that improve student success.

Today, GCEIC proudly serves 22 public school districts and the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, making it one of the largest regional education consortiums in Mississippi. Together, GCEIC member districts educate nearly 100,000 students and employ more than 11,000 education professionals, including teachers, administrators, counselors, instructional assistants, school resource officers, technology specialists, child nutrition staff, transportation personnel, maintenance teams, and support staff. The strength of the consortium is reflected in the success of its members, with every public district earning an A or B accountability rating and the state's highest-performing school district having been a GCEIC member every year since the 2018-2019 school year.

Working in partnership with member school districts, the Mississippi Department of Education, colleges and universities, business and industry, and community organizations, GCEIC provides high-quality professional learning, leadership development, consulting services, and collaborative opportunities that strengthen teaching, leadership, and student achievement. More than a professional development provider, GCEIC serves as the Mississippi Gulf Coast's regional hub for educational collaboration by connecting leaders to address common challenges, leverage shared resources, foster innovation, and build organizational capacity through executive coaching, superintendent and administrator networks, strategic planning, technology integration, legislative coordination, workforce partnerships, and customized educational consulting.

The consortium is governed by a Board of Directors composed of the superintendents of its member school districts, providing strategic leadership and operational oversight. Under the guidance of the Board, the Executive Director of Operations and Finance and the Executive Director of Programs and Services lead the organization's day-to-day operations, strategic initiatives, and innovative programs, ensuring GCEIC remains a premier resource for advancing educational excellence across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
